Arms linked in rain to block oil hui

Climate change protests this morning blocked some delegates from getting into the Petroleum Industry Conference in New Plymouth.
Emily Tuhi-Ao Bailey from the People’s Climate Rally says if the plan was to avoid protests by moving the conference to Taranaki, it has failed.
Several hundred people turned out to block the TSB Showplace where the conference was being held.
"Hundreds sitting on the ground locking arms, sitting in the rain, sopping wet, just holding the line and putting their bodies there to protect our whanaunga in the Pacific Islands, in the middle east, being killed for wars over oil. We are here to let our Government, let these companies know this is not our future. We have the technology, the ideas to transition to fossil fuels. They just need to listen to us and make it happen," Ms Bailey says.
