Wilderpeople in hunt for Moa
Maori directors and writers are in line for Moas with the awards reborn as the Rialto Channel New Zealand Film Awards after a two year hiatus.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople is up for best feature, with Taika Waititi also nominated for his direction and screenwriting, and other cast and crew also up for tohu.
Director Lee Tamahori is nominated for Mahana, which is also a contender for best feature and best screenplay.
Poi E: The Story Of Our Song is nominated in the documentary category along with its director Tearepa Kahi.
With much of Aotearoa’s film industry located in west Auckland, Te Whanau o Waipareira is sponsoring the award for best supporting actor.
The awards ceremony is at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland on February 18.
