Iwi make shortlist for multimillion dollar project
A consortium led by Ngati Paoa and another which includes the commercial arm of Ngati Whatua Orakei have made the shortlist to redevelop state housing areas in east Auckland.
Tamaki Regeneration Company called for expressions of interest for the first phase of its programme to redevelop 1000 existing social homes into 2500 new social, affordable and private market houses around Glen Innes, Point England and Panmure.
Chief executive John Holyoake says it needs a development partner to design, deliver and sell the houses; and a partner to provide long-term investment in the rebuilt houses.
The three shortlisted groups have until May to respond to a request for proposal, with the preferred respondent to be named in September.
Ngati Paoa’s consortium includes local and international constructors and financier, while the Tuhono Tamaki Consortium members are Fletcher Residential, Fletcher Building, Ngati Whatua Orakei Whai Rawa, Programmed FM NZ Ltd, Macquarie Capital (New Zealand) Ltd and Public Infrastructure Partners limited partnership.
The third Exemplar Communities Consortium includes AV Jennings, Capella Capital, AMP Capital, Spotless, Universal Homes and Classic Builders.
