Bad weather hampers quake clean up

People in the centre of the country are checking buildings and cleaning up as aftershocks from yesterday’s 7.5 magnitude Hanmer Springs earthquake continue to rock the region.
Kaikoura remains cut off by road and rail, and two navy ships are heading for the town to evacuate tourists and those locals who want or need to get out.
Up the road in Blenheim, Butch Bradley from Ngati Apa ki te Ra To says while there is little apparent damage, intermittent shakes have people running for the doorways.
"We’re all checking our buildings, making sure staff can come back to work. After the shakes and quakes of yesterday we now have rain to deal with so our thoughts certainly go our to our whanaunga in Kaikoura. The only good thing is the sun will shine and we will have 27 degrees later on today," he says.
