Iwi consulted on Horowhenua housing sell off
Foxton, Levin and Shannon are to be the next targets for the Government’s experiment in creating an independent social housing sector.
It has teamed up with the Horowhenua District Council to ask for interest from community housing providers to take over the running of 115 council flats and 249 state houses in the area.
The crown is also consulting iwi on the plan.
The sale of state houses in Invercargill stalled when the original tenderer pulled out, but talks are still going on over the sale of the Housing New Zealand portfolio ion Tauranga.
