E-learning future for Arawa education
The director of a trust trying to improve education in the Rotorua area says e-learning will be a major part of the mix.
Leith Comer says Nga Pumanawa E Waru Education Trust is working with not just Te Arawa iwi and most of the region's schools but its businesses and farmers as well.
It also has backing from leading technology companies and the philanthropic Next Foundation which means it can hire a team to engage with 34 of the region's 48 schools over the next three years.
"They want our expert team to come into their schools to help them develop an e-learning plan that is going to move the school from the way they currently teach and the way our current learners learn to one that is future focused with regard to the use of digital pedagogies and digital competencies," Mr Comer says.
Nga Pumanawa E Waru is also encouraging schools to cooperate rather than be in continual competition with each other.
