With the 9th celebration of the crowning of King Tuheitia at Turangawaewae this weekend Waikato-Tainui kaumatua Rahui Papa is praising the role of rangatahi within the Kingitanga.
Rahui Papa says its wonderful to see the young people stepping up and taking an increasing role in tribal affairs.
" And I take my hat off to them because they ae eager and keen to participate. They're also not hikaka or quick to jump over the kaumatua. They want to work in tandem with the kaumatua of today becausethey are going to be the kaumatua of tomorrow" he says.
Rahui Papa says a wonderful weekend of celebrations lies ahead.
