Labour Maori MP sees law change to help tamariki
Labour's Tamaki-Makaurau MP Peeni Henare is welcoming legislation before parliament which will see tamariki paid properly.
Peeni Henare says a bill which was drawn out of the ballot will mean that tamaraki who deliver pamphlets and newspapers around the street are paid the minimum wage at least.
" I was one in my days who delivered and I can tell you we got a heck of a lot less than the minimum wage so thankful for the support of both the Maori Party and United Future and we look forward to that Bill getting through the first reading and into committee stage" he says.
Peeni Henare says with the support from other parties the bill will get through its first reading and hopefully will become law.
