MOU good for Maori
The quality of research into Maori social issues will be considerably improved with the merger of two organisations already proving themselves in the field with a memorandum of understanding between Waipareira Urban Maori Authority and Whanganui based Whakaauae Research
Dr Heather Gifford of Whakauae Research says there are considerable synergies between Waipareira which has been delivering services to whanau in West Auckland and her own provncial based team.
Heather Gifford says at the end of the day the objective is to provide better outcomes for Maori and she says the partnership is a significant step in that direction.
She says as well as providing a bigger and more diversified data base their will be benefits of bringing together expertise currently existing separately.
