Tamariki being attacked by dogs

Middlemore Hospital plastic surgeons are calling for urgent changes to dog laws after a study found three children a week – mostly Maori – are being admitted with horrendous injuries.
Dr Zachary Moaveni who led the study says he's really angry that the most innocent members of our society are suffering unimaginable terror while the number of attacks keeps going up.
He says their study using ACC figures found that across New Zealand 10 people are being mauled each week and they are often Maori children from lower socio-economic areas.
Dr Moaveni says the injuries he's seeing are so horrendous he's found it difficult to keep working in the job.
He says after a decade where thousands were admitted to hospitals after being attacked by dogs its clear that as well as stricter laws there needs to be a major education campaign.
