NZ on Air funds 5 new Maori programmes next year


New Zealand on Air is funding five new Maori programmes next year at a cost of $2 million.
They include a series on TV One where last year's Masterchef winners Kasey and Karena Bird from Maketu will visit 10 New Zealand embassies around the world.
On ANZAC day Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will narrate a documentary for Maori Television on the efforts of the Maori Battalion at the First World War Battle of the Somme.
Maori Television also has funding for a second series of Te Araroa – tales from the Trails and a comedy show aiming to find the "Ultimate Island Warrior".
An eight episode Web Series directed by different Maori directors will be hosted on Maori Television Ondemand.
