Meanwhile Labour and New Zealand First are in rare accord to have a new National Anthem.

While New Zealand First leader Winston Peters has been a staunch supporter of retaining the New Zealand flag with the Union Jack in the corner he has come out strongly in support of Labour leader Andrew Little's call for a new national Anthem.

Mr Little has called "God Defend New Zealand" a funeral dirge and Mr Peters who will be opening his Party's annual conference at the weekend with the National Anthem agrees saying no one looks happy singing it.
