Hui inspires wahine entrepreneurs
Maori businesswomen have come away inspired after the first Wahine Maori Entrepreneurs Conference in Tauranga this week.
Organiser Jacqui Ranui says about 70 women came to share their stories and build networks.
They had each started businesses ranging from fly fishing guiding to fashion design and medical clinics to earthmoving.
Ms Ranui says the conference format allowed the women to let their guard down.
"Then you can hear these really candid stories about how they got there. What we picked up was it was never an easy journey for any of us. It is a solo journey but one you can share in a forum like this inspire women, help motivate them to keep doing what they are doing if that's what they're passionate about," she says.
She'd like to see the conference become an annual event.
