On Monday the 18th of May, 2015, Tautoko FM, the second oldest Māori Radio Station, was engulfed by fire. The fire burnt down its studio, office and all the station’s equipment at its Mangamuka Bridge location.
Whilst Tautoko FM now has temporary premises and returned to the airwaves just a week after the tragic fire, the staff and whānau of Tautoko FM require support. They need a new office, new equipment and a new studio.
On Friday June 26th, the event “Tautoko Tautoko” will be held at Blacknote Bar, on Symonds St, in Auckland City. This event will see Māori across the nation come together to support Tautoko FM, and to raise as much as we can to help Tautoko FM into a new home. We will host a fundraising concert at Blacknote Bar, as well as broadcast the event live on all 21 Māori Radio stations across Aotearoa. The event will also be live-streamed for those who can’t make it in to town.
