Black Notes to broadcast talent
The host of a new Maori music venture says it’s a shame to keep the talent secret.
That’s why the Black Note Bar is celebrating New Zealand Music Month by broadcasting its Tuesday night live sessions on Radio Waatea and the iwi network, as well as streaming from its website.
Ngatapa Black says the bar next to the Edinburgh Castle Hotel at the top of Symonds Street is getting some great emerging and established artists on its stage.
"I just thought it would be a beautiful idea that everybody else gets to listen to them instead of being greedy and keeping them all to ourselves up here in central Auckland, and just a good way of helping to promote these artists and getting more expose for them. I mean that’s why we have the bar there, to give them a platform to perform and get used to performing," she says.
Tonight’s performance at Black Note is a solo set from Tribal Connections member Ants Pirihi, which will broadcast from 8 to 10pm.
