Dolphin song wins international acclaim
There's more international recognition for Moana Maniapoto, with her song Upokohue from the RIMA album taking second place in the world music category of the International Songwriting Competition.
It's is a tribute to the endangered Maui's dolphin, and was co-written with Scotty Morrison and Paddy Free.
She says Morrison's lyrics in te reo Maori are particularly clever.
Moana Maniapoto won the competition several years ago, and says picking up the accolade is a boost to here confidence as a songwriter – especially since the competition attracted 18,000 entries.
