Ngai Tahu tertiary education initiative Te Tapuae o Rehua in partnership with Ngai Tahu Farming and Lincoln University are bringing Whanau Ora to the farm.
Norm Dewes from the South Island Whanau ora commissioning agency Te Putahitanga o Te Waipounamu says the Whenua Kura scheme will employ whanau champions to engage with Maori on farms.
He says it shows Whanau Ora is applicable in every setting.
Maori Development Minister Te Ururoa Flavell, who launched Whenua Kura today at Tuahiwi Marae, says when one young person finds long-term employment as a result of entering tertiary studies the entire family dynamic changes.
