Group to inform iwi
A working group appointed by Te Ohu Kai Moana has held its first meeting as it tries to prepare iwi to debate a call to wind up the Maori fisheries trust and distribute its assets to iwi.
The recommendation was contained in a review of Maori fisheries structures that must be voted on at a special general meeting on June 4.
Group chair Jamie Tuuta says its focus it to ensure iwi are well informed about the review’s recommendations and the implications for the Maori Fisheries Settlement assets.
Other members include Mark Ngata, Hinerangi Raumati, Naida Glavish, Rob McLeod, Craig Ellison, Tom McClurg, Ngahiwi Tomoana, and Rangimarie Hunia.
