Kawhia kai live and local
Organisers of the Kawhia kai festival expect the population of the Waikato coastal town to swell ten-fold tomorrow.
Hano Ormsby says between 3000 and 5000 people could be on hand to sample some of the traditional foods from land and sea.
There will also be local musicians and a parade of waka ama and whaleboats on the harbour.
Now in its 11th year, it has a new organising committee after concern it was losing its local focus.
" I think the goal is to get the comunity alot more involved, in terms of the stands. And that has been helped by the fact that the entry fee is a low gold coin koha. We are hoping that the numbers will come and partake in our day of celebration of Waitangi and our community " says Hano Ormsby from the Kawhia kai festival
