Traditional Maori spinning tops and flags are among the inspirations for a new show of contemporary Maori art at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Art in Wellington.
Signing was pulled together to mark the 175 years since the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
It includes new work by veteran artist Darcy Nicholas, and a piece by Linda Munn, a co-designer of the tino rangatiratanga Maori flag.
Barry Te Whatu will share his research into Maori tops, while weaver Tracey Morgan pushes the boundaries of raranga.
