Maori voice at giant Auckland health provider
Leading Maori health advocate Lorraine Hetaraka-Stevens has been appointed nursing director of ProCare, the country’s largest network of qualified doctors, nurses and general practice teams.
She was formerly associate director of nursing at Auckland District Health Board and an honourary senior lecturer at the University of Auckland School of Nursing.
ProCare clinical director Dr Allan Moffitt says she has been an effective change manager, especially in the area of Maori workforce development.
He says nursing leadership is integral to the future of general practice and primary care in New Zealand.
ProCare provides professional, quality family healthcare to more than 800,000 Aucklanders from Helensville to Tuakau.
