VUW Maori business course for chop
The Tertiary Education Union says Victoria University of Wellington’s business school is considering closing its Maori business programme.
Tumu Arataki James Houkamau says the two lecturing positions slated for the chop were filled by the only Maori staff in the faculty, Aroha Mead and Matene Love.
He says the decision seems to go against recommendations of a recent review, and it’s also against the university’s strategic aim to recognise the contribution of Matauranga Maori scholarship across disciplines.
