Diabetes cause of king’s turn

The Maori King is suffering from a condition relating to his diabetes, and not a heart attack as first thought.
King Tuheitia was checked into Waikato Hospital yesterday, just days after announcing at the Koroneihana hui that he was managing his diabetes and cancer and would resume normal duties.
Spokesperson Tukoroirangi Morgan says the king felt unwell on Sunday night and was taken to Waikato Hospital yesterday.
His symptoms are consistent with the diabetes-related ailments that he has been challenged with over the past 12 months. He will undergo a series of tests. That means he will stay in Waikato Hospital under the best care he can get," he says.
Mr Morgan says elders will decide in the next few days who will fill in for King Tuheitia until he is fully recovered.
Over the past year eldest son Whatumoana Paki has been attending events in his father's place.
