No place to hide in Kapa Haka 12’s
A competitor in this weekend’s Kapa Haka Super says there’s no place to hide in the stripped down format.
Nine teams will battle it out at The Cloud on Auckland’s waterfront for a share of $12,000 cash.
Connie Valivaka, who is leading a new team, says putting 12 performers on stage for 12 minutes is a great challenge.
" It’s trying to create a programme that's exciting yet still true to kapa haka. Contemporary but still has those basic elements of haka, poi, waiata and it's12 people. So there's no hiding behind anybody. You're all out there and you all need to be is confident and know your stuff " she says.
The 2 Degrees Kapa Haka Twelves starts at 9 on Saturday morning, and should end before 4.
