Unitec backing CODE to reach students


Unitec Institute of Technology has signed a sponsorship deal with Maori Television which is aimed to complement its outreach to Maori students.
The sponsorships are for the 10th season of sports show CODE ands a new reality series, City Slickers, which features rangatahi learning rodeo skills.
It’s also producing commercials showing Maori students and graduates.
Carol Ngawati, the director of Maori student and community engagement, says the Maori student success strategy Unitec started in 2009 that has resulted in course completion rates increasing by 4 percent to 75 percent, and qualification completion rates increasing by 14 percent.
