The Maori Party is playing up the success of the Breakfast in schools programme that was designed to blunt support for Hone Harawira’s feed the kids bill.
Co-leader Te Ururoa Flavell says more than 25,000 children are taking part in Kick Start, which he described as a Maori Party/National Party joint venture with Fonterra and Sanitarium.
He says 100 more schools have joined so far this year, making a total of 722 schools.
