National’s Maori caucus has just swelled by one, with the Electoral Commission confirming Whanganui-based Joanne Hayes as a list MP.
She replaces Katrina Shanks, who stood down at the end of last year.
Ms Hayes stood for Dunedin South at the last election after missing out on the candidacy for Palmerston North.
She has been working as the director of community relations at UCOL, a polytech with campuses in Palmerston North and Whanganui.
Ms Hayes has Ati Haunui A Paparangi, Rangitaane ki Wairarapa and Ngati Porou whakapapa.
