Kora to headline free Waitangi Day concert

Platinum-selling band Kora will headline this year’s Auckland Music In Parks with a concert at Henderson Park on Waitangi Day, February 6.
Arts, culture and events committee chair Alf Filipaina says it’s a huge-bonus for the day’s line-up.
The band, which draws together funk, rock, reggae, metal, hip hop and electronic sounds, joins soul songstress Tyra Hammond and Funkommunity.
Kora, which includes brothers Brad, Francis and Stuart Kora and friend Dan McGruer, are spending the summer touring the country with Katchafire before entering the studio in April to cut a new album.
Waitangi Day will also be the premiere of The Pa Boys, the debut film by writer-director Himiona Grace starring Francis Kora.
Music in Parks runs from Saturday 11 January until Saturday 22 March and features more than 70 musical acts across Auckland.
