Former Maori trustee Neville Baker has been elected chair of the Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust.
He ousted former Labour MP Mahara Okeroa, who got the job a year ago when inaugural chair Sir Ngatata Love was forced to step aside because of allegations relating to development of settlement assets.
Toarangatira Pomare was elected deputy chair.
Challenges for the board include developing the former air force base at Shelly Bay, and taking advantage of its right to buy other surplus Crown propeties around Wellington.
