Wakatu brings on marketing guru
A former seafood industry executive has been appointed to run Wakatu Incorporation's subsidiary food and beverage company, Kono NZ.
Don Everitt will head the wine, fruit and seafood production and export division of the large Nelson corporation.
Kono employs more than 350 staff and farms, more than 500 hectares of land and sea.
Its brands include Tohu and Aronui wines.
Wakatu chairperson Paul Morgan says the incorporation’s property division will remain under leasehold and land manager Iain Sheves, while former Wakatu chief executive Keith Palmer will act in an advisory role.
Mr Everitt has been head of marketing for New Zealand King Salmon and Sealord.
He says Kono had already developed a good brand platform, but it now needs to understand how consumers perceive the firm and understand what international customers want.
