Waterfront base for Atamira Māori in the City
The organisers of Atamira Māori in the City are planning a smaller but more intense event in its new venue.
The showcase of Māori business, culture and heritage has moved from the ASB Showgrounds to The Cloud and Shed 10 on Queen’s Wharf.
Piripi Menary says the three day festival should reach a wide audience.
"It's Atamira Māori in the City and we thought we needed to be in the hub of the city, and celebrating also Ngāti Whatua being the stronghold of Tāmaki Makaurau, we all thought that it best we shift the event down there to a venue a lot of our people will feel proud of, of taking a big Māori event, showing the motu what Māori have, and we think it's a great venue," he says.
Atamira Māori In the City runs from September 6 to 8.
