Kiwi Ferns doing it hard
The Kiwi Ferns are doing it hard as they strive to represent New Zealand in the Women's Rugby League World championship later this year.
The wāhine have won the last three championships, but hosts England are benefiting from the millions of pounds Britain poured into women's sports in the lead up to the London Olympics.
Assistant Coach Rusty Matua says previous funders like community trusts and Te Puni Kokiri haven't come through this time, so the trip must be paid for by the Kiwi Ferns themselves and any additional fundraising they can do.
A support evening will be held at Auckland's Mahurehure Mārae on April 27 featuring musicians Chris Powley, kapa haka Te Toka Tu Manawa and other entertainment.
