Morgan interim chair at Tainui
A weekend meeting of the Waikato-Tainui parliament failed to reach agreement on a new chairperson.
That means the Kāhui Ariki representative, Tukoroirangi Morgan, will chair Te Kauhanganui in the interim.
The previous chair, Tania Martin, was removed in November after the house voted that she had brought it into disrepute.
There is continued division in the tribe over governance, with King Tuheitia and his supporters pushing for a smaller structure and clearer lines of accountability between the parliament and the executive.
Tom Roa, the Chair of the Executive Te Arataura, says the Kings call for members of the executive to stand down was discussed but not acted on.
