Fruit and vege relief politically correct tax
Māori Party president John Tamihere says the Labour Party’s promised cut to GST on fruit and vegetables is too timid and won’t shift the dial.
The Māori Party has a petition to remove GST from all food sales in Aotearoa.
Mr Tamihere says most to the items in the supermarket trundler are other sorts of food.
“Fruit and veges plays to the politically correct who don’t like poorer people drinking too many fizzies and buying too many chippies. It’s a politically correct tax. Like all Labour Party policies it’s somewhere to be good but they never change the dial,” he says.
