Māori experts added to heritage councils
Heritage experts Rei Kohere and Rangi Mātāmua have been appointed to the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga board and the Māori Heritage Council respectively.
Mr Kohere is deputy chair of Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou, and has worked as senior heritage policy advisor to the Historic Places Trust and Heritage New Zealand.
Professor Mātāmua is a former chair of the Matariki Advisory Group, and his research encompasses Māori astronomy and star lore, Māori culture and Māori language development.
Sir John Clarke was reappointed chair of the Māori Heritage Council and conjoint member of the Pouhere Taonga board.
