Women’s time is now says global sports hui
The head of Women in Sport Aotearoa says wahine athletes are tired of excuses about why they’re the poor sisters to their male counterparts.
The eighth IWG World Conference on Women & Sport is on now in Tamaki Makaurau, coinciding with three international women’s sporting events.
Rachel Froggatt says the popularity of the Women’s Rugby World Cup shows why more investment in women’s sport is needed.
“The women’s sports movement is not growing any more, it’s here, it’s happening, and you just need to get on the train or you are going to be left behind. There’s going to be a really positive advancement of social pressure on to decision makers to make sure women and girls are being prioritised the same way men and boys are,” she says.
