Icehouse to boost Waiariki trusts
Waiariki Institute of Technology is teaming up with business incubator The Icehouse to boost the earning potential of Māori land trusts.
Waiariki Deputy Chief Executive Keith Ikin says the Māori Trustees Programme will give trustees a two and a half day workshop, followed by business coaching and mentoring.
He says there are billions of dollars of iwi assets in the wider Waiariki region.
He says The Icehouse has a dedicated Māori business division, and with its track record of helping businesses gets a better return on assets, it made sense to bring it into a region where there are billions of dollars of iwi assets.
The Icehouse was founded by the University of Auckland Business School in 2001 and had worked with more than 4000 entrepreneurs and business owners over the past decade.
