Big Breakfast highlights Mana bill
Breakfast and lunch was on the Mana Party today for more than 2000 children from 10 South Auckland schools.
Sporting, film and television celebrities dished out the kai at the Big Breakfast at Otara Leisure Centre.
The event aimed to raise awareness of child poverty and hunger and draw attention to Mana leader Hone Harawira’s ‘Feed the Kids Bill’ to introduce breakfast and lunch programmes in low-decile schools.
The Bill is due to come before Parliament in June.
Meanwhile, Mana vice president, John Minto, is considering running as mayor of Auckland.
He says current mayor Len Brown has failed the city’s poor, and was effectively a candidate for the city’s business elite.
