Korero the key to coping with COVID cares
Kōrero. Talk about it.
That’s advice from actor and mental health advocate Rob Mokaraka on how to survive the COVID-19 lockdown.
Rather than succumbing to depression or anxiety which he calls being trapped in the past or the future people need to learn to live in the now.
Do what you can to ensure you are mentally, physically, spiritually and environmentally well and share your feelings.
"When the mamae is starting to impact on your whānau you need to korero, korero this into the light because a lot of people feel the shame with this plight and we forget we are allowed to talk about feeling vulnerable because feeling vulnerable is actually courageous, it's not the opposite," he says.
Rob Mokaraka says he has what he calls his tight three, three friends he can call any time in what is a safe space with no judgment.
