Papatoetoe gets COVID test pop up
An additional Community Testing Centre will open in Papatoetoe today as health authorities try to establish whether there has been any further transmission of COVID-19.
The centre at Kohuora Park is open from 9am.
More than 2000 people were swabbed yesterday, including about 30 students and staff from Papatoetoe High School who were considered close contacts of one of the three family members at the centre of the latest outbreak.
The Ministry of Health is asking people only get a test if they were at one of the 21 locations of interest visited by the family.
The results of the mass testing could determine whether Auckland’s level 3 lockdown will be extended past tomorrow night.
The family, which is now in a quarantined hotel, has the highly-transmissible UK variant of Covid-19.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the outbreak still had not been linked to a known case in managed isolation and quarantine facilities.
