L.A.B. goes for funk experiment
L.A.B frontman Joel Shadbolt says the chart topping band has reached back to the 1970s for inspiration for its fourth long player.
L.A.B IV features 12 tracks combining reggae, funk, soul & blues in a distinctive 70’s sound.
Shadbolt says it suited the band's collaborative approach to song writing and production.
"This album definitely has that nice mellow feel. Every time I listen to it is groove oriented, which is a massive staple in our music. We love the funk and obviously the roots reggae stuff and we've just delved deeper into those styles and deeper into that style of songwriting," he says.
L.A.B will headline shows at the TSB Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth & Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium this summer.
