Te Matatini o Te Kāhui Maunga wraps up with the Ngāpō Pīmia Wehi Duncan McIntyre Trophy returning to Te Arawa Waka.
On Saturday, the top 12 kapa out of 55 kapa competed, with judges crowning Te Kapa Haka o Ngāti Whakaue as the 2025 Te Matatini champions.
Ngāti Rangiwewehi and Ngā Tūmanako placed second and third overall.
The first-ever Te Matatini People’s Choice – Kohine Ponika ‘Aku Mahi’ Memorial Trophy went to Te Kuru Marutea from Te Tauihu o Te Waka-a-Māui.
Te Matatini Society CEO Carl Ross credits the success of this year’s festival to host rohe Te Kāhui Maunga and their manaakitanga.
Across social media, Te Matatini’s content reached 21.5 million views and gained 32,000 new followers.
Where the next Te Matatini will be held has yet to be confirmed.
