The coordinator of tomorrow’s Toitū Te Tiriti protest in central Auckland says it’s a chance to speak up for those that are struggling and who won’t be helped by the Budget.
The late morning Queen Street march will coincides with ‘carkoi’ across Auckland and marches in other major cities and towns.
Dave Letele says the Government has reneged on election promises to move money from Wellington into communities.
“I don’t expect anything to come and it’s just like what they’ve done with the police, they campaign on a law and order campaign and yet they’re not going to give the police any more extra money either so you know I don’t believe anything this Government says,” he says.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says protests are a weekend thing and it would be illegal for people to skip work to take part in tomorrow’s activation.
