Positive poll just a snapshot in time
Labour leader Chris Hipkins isn’t getting excited by his party’s first uptick in the polls since last year’s election.
The One News Varian poll found 30 percent support for Labour and 14 percent for the Greens, which would be enough to form a government if Te Pati Maori came on board.
“I’m being very realistic about this poll. It is a snap shot in time. Some times polls say things you like and some times they say things you don’t like but they are a reflection of public opinion at any given time,” Mr Hipkins says.
New Zealanders voted for change at the last election, and Labour has two and a half years to make changes as well.
