ACT attack brings fitting response
Māori Party co-leader Debbie Ngarewa Packer has given a mihi to rangatahi who protest when Governemnt ministers visit their schools.
Last week students at Freyberg High School in Palmerston North did a haka and showed their opposition to Associate Education Minister David Seymour.
Ms Ngarewa Packer says when politicians attack the values students are taught, they should expect some push back.
“These are kohanga generation, our kura kaupapa, reo speaking, kapa haka performing, active kaitiaki rangatahi, and they are confronting the very leader of the party who told them their tiriti does not matter, who told them they should have less reo , who told them their whenua and moana does not matter, they are fast tracking all sorts of deveopment on it. I’m surprised they stopped at spitting,” she says.
