Turangawaewae prepares for regatta crowds
The annual Turangawaewae regatta is tomorrow, and organisers say it’s a chance for people to reconnect, and then leave cultural champions.
Ikimoke Tāmaki-Takarei says more than 600 paddlers are expected, taking to Waikato awa on everything from dugouts and waka ama o the big waka taua.
A barge parked on the riverbank by the marae will host music and kapa haka.
