Spectrum claimant Graeme Everton a maker of magic
There’s shock at the sudden death of entrepreneur and innovator Graeme Everton
He was 60
Mr Everton, from Ngāti Raukawa ki Te Tonga and Ngāti Tūwharetoa, was a driving force in the Māori spectrum claim lodged by his mother, the late Rangiaho Everton, in 1996.
He described himself as pursuing a number of different career paths revolving around Indigenous development, information and communication technology, and sustainable futures.
Cousin and former business partner Te Atawhai Tibble say other projects included getting solar panels on to marae, creating entrepreneurship programmes for marae, and helping to build the Māori contribution to the World Indigenous Business Forum.
He also explored farming dairy sheep and ostriches.
Mr Tibble says he was a maker of magic, taken too soon.
