Fragile Luxon showing lackluster vision
Te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngārewa-Packer says the main fragility the Prime Minister is displaying is white fragilty.
In what he called a state of the nation speech on Monday, Christopher Luxon said the country was fragile after New Zealanders had been badly let down by a broken and distracted Labour Government.
He said his Government had to make tough choices, including what he called tough louggh through more sanctions on beneficiaries.
Debbie Ngarewa-Packer says the speech showed weakness rather than strength.
“There is fragility coming on and he is part of a government that is leading that white fragility. what we are seeing is a prime minister who wouldn’t wear a vest – took Waka Kotahi off it – so I think the Prime Minister’s speech continues to be lacklustre, he continues to blame the previous Government for everything and you can only get away with that for so long,” she says.
Ms Ngarewa-Packer says the Prime Minister is alienating Maori, despite the growing importance of the Maori economy.
