NZ First dinosaurs says Waititi
Week two of the new parliament is likely to see more sparks flying between New Zealand First and Te Pāti Māori.
New Zealand First MP Shane Jones has asked Speaker Jerry Brownlee to look into the oaths taken by the six Māori Party MPs, which included an informal oath to mokopuna and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and then references to King Charles which did not follow the prescribed form.
Mr Jones also criticised what he called kapa haka theatrics, including the feathered pōtae made for Mr Waititi and Tākuta Ferris by Codi Marsters.
Mr Waititi says Mr Jones and his leader Winston Peters are political dinosaurs who can’t see the future of Aotearoa.
“Winston in 50 years has only seen one way in that House and he’s been comfortable in his colonisation and wheat we did on Tuesday rocked everything he has known for the last 50 years. They are not the future of politics. This is their last grab – their support base is also not the future of New Zealand politics and that is dwindling as well,” he says.
