Rangatahi seek help to quit vaping

The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation’s āpiha takawaenga Māori or Māori community liaison, Sharon Pihema, says there’s huge demand from kura for workshops about vaping.
She says every school is trying to manage vaping and looking for the resources and support to help them.
Many are surprised at the foundation’s evidence-based information, including its concern at the way it will affect the future health of young people and their relationships with whanau and communities.
She says the schools highlighted the real gap in support for rangatahi who want to quit vaping,
“We’ve been able to bring back and advocate to the Ministry of Health in terms of you what’s needed – this is what rangatahi are telling us is going to help them the most to address vaping and quit vaping,” Ms Pihema says.
She says leadership and coordination from central government is needed.
